One of the R800 hardly ever gives any issues but the other is rather "picky" and I need to stay with my routine of "weekly" maintenance (Nozzle Check, etc) with it but can "cheat" sometimes for a few days for my other R800, 2200, and 3880. I do not have or use any type of "RIP" and the print strips have proved (for me) to be just one of the tools that I use if and when I have printing problems.

the only way to get single strips is through a RIP or by having access to the driver code.īrian, I have been using these print strips for around 4 to 5 years (for my R800's) and much longer for the 2200 - and have NOT had any difficulties as you have explained.

Yes, but you could easily get banding in several of the stripes with only one nozzle clogged. There is no nozzle problem (on this R800 printer) with any of the colors but if (and when) they are, there would be banding for the color that has a nozzle problem for THAT specific color Are you telling me this image was not printed with inks from the various colored cartridges - and that it was printed by some type of Mix (Composites) that was determined by the print Driver. The Matte Black ink is somewhat "blacker" and more dense than the Photo Black.īob, I just printed the same image file as I posted in my previous post. If you want to print for the Photo Black (using the file) then just select one of the paper types that use Photo Black cartridge/and ink. For example, Matte papers select and use Matte Black inks, Gloss and Luster papers use Photo Black. The difference in count of Cartridges as compared to the colors in the file I posted is due to BOTH Black ink cartridges are in the printer but only ONE is selected (at a time) based on the paper selection. Google will give you many links to test images - I normally use the PDI Test Image as a first shot.

Then use a "standard" test image to confirm that the colour is correct. Use the normal nozzle check to see if all channels are working. If you really think you need to do this then take a look at QuadToneRip - it will certainly allow you to do this on your R1800. You need a RIP (Raster Image Processor) to print individual channels. Every colour that you try to print will use inks from more than one channe so the result can be very confusingl. You cannot print purely from one channel using the normal printer driver. This is more than I need but interesting nonetheless. I will also look ito Quad Tone Rip. Two sites go into heavy detail for calibrating printers. I found several sites with interesting PDI test images which look promising. Someone (in this thread) indicated this will not work, however it has been working for me for over 5 years. I have several different combinations of single and for more than one color that I use with my two R800 printers. Use the included image to select any specific color and create another file (for that color) and use it for your print test.

Is this true?Īlso does some one have a file that lets me print only one of the colors on a full page of paper as I choose in order to test just that nozzle?Įdit to add: Dpreview overlayed (or dropped all the test that was in my original post) so I have used EDIT: to enter the below information. Someone on this forum said that the order of the test patterns is not the same as the order of the cartridges in the print head.

I will experiment to see which nozzles are matched to your file. One difficulty is that the R1800 has one additional color and several are named differently.
